As a former long time acne sufferer, it is my ambition with this blog to provide an unbiased resource where people can quickly and easily find information on acne skin care and acne treatment options.

It is my goal to put the power back into people's hands by distilling the overwhelming complexity of information down into easily understood "plain English". Acne Skin Care Tips

Here are some tips from for people of any age who want to keep their skin clear:

#Don’t pick, pop or squeeze, or otherwise mess with your skin. Squeezing blemishes or whiteheads can lead to infection or scarring. It almost always makes the acne you have worse.

#Wash your pillowcase often and always use clean face towels. Dirty towels and pillowcases can harbor bacteria and germs that can make acne worse.

#Be sure to pull your hair away from your skin when you sleep.

#Try to shower as soon as possible after your workout since sweat combined with skin oils can trap dirt and bacteria in your pores.

#Don’t go to bed with makeup on. It can clog your pores and lead to breakouts.

#Make sure to clean cosmetic brushes regularly in soapy water and throw out old, contaminated makeup.

#Use topical scrubs, anywhere that you tend to get breakouts -- don't just spot-treat existing pimples. The pore-clogging process happens two to three weeks before any blemish becomes visible on the skin.

What Is Acne? & Why Is Acne Skin Care So Important?

Firstly we need to know what acne actually is. Acne is an inflammatory skin disease which affects the tiny pores which cover the face, arms, back and chest and the oil glands attached to them.It is an abnormal response in the skin to normal levels of the male hormone, testosterone, in the blood. Both men and women have testosterone circulating in the blood, but in the acne sufferer, this hormone has a profound effect on the skin.

This abnormal response is self limiting and eventually acne does get better without treatment, but there is no way of predicting how long this can take, and it may take years or even decades!

Acne can also leave scars which are permanent and are easier to prevent than to treat.

Acne skin care is needed in order to control and clear the oil glands which will lead to clear skin. I personally found that acne was very hard on my confidence and i belive that it held me back for a number of years. This is why acne skin care is important. Clear skin leads to greater self confidence which in itself leads to success in life in general.
